I trained as a nurse as my original career, working at various hospitals in London from 1991 to 2002. I returned to Reading in 2003 to raise my family in the town where I was brought up. I then began working part-time at a local dental practice as a receptionist.
I discovered Pilates in London, to help me manage a back injury that I sustained whilst nursing. I began attending regular classes after the birth of my second daughter, as I felt my body would benefit from this form of exercise. I soon realised that my body was responding so well to the Pilates method of movement. I was learning & challenging myself as I progressed, whilst developing more understanding of my posture, my functioning body & all the systems working in conjunction to create a harmonious balance for healthy mind & body.
I felt inspired to combine my knowledge of anatomy & physiology & to deepen my understanding of the practice of traditional Pilates exercise. This led me to complete a Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Pilates with Pilates Training Solutions in 2017.
I was delighted to start hosting my own Pilates classes in my local neighbourhood. I now offer a range of drop-in classes at local village halls, private home-based sessions & online classes, which I began when Covid took us into national lockdown. Due to the positive uptake of these classes throughout the pandemic, I have continued to provide daytime & evening sessions for many people in many counties in the UK.
